We will eventually stop flying,
Following a path with an unidentified destination.
This is a journey,
The scenery changes with the sun and moon,
The landform may be unpredictable,
But the conversation of time,
It is an existence that will eventually transcend dimensions.
Preface
The history of human civilization is closely related to animals and plants.
The symbiotic relationship between man and nature contains rich connotations of the times and philosophical implications. The two restrict each other and maintain balance. The opposition and unity reflected during this period are also projected into the fields of natural philosophy, social philosophy, and philosophy of life.
Xiaobing Huang is an artist who uses multi-dimensional techniques to present his concepts. He does not stick to his comfortable and proficient painting skills, but pursues the perfect presentation of concepts – using ceramics, sculptures, photography, and installations to interpret modern nature and social issues. In this exhibition, he uses the animal form surrounding the “bird” as the main symbol, and uses various material contexts for artistic expression.
His works contain discussions on the relationship between nature and life, individuals and group images. In the images of “birds” of different shapes, he blends and decomposes the concrete symbols of various animals. The deformed body, various forms and expressions create different contexts. But at the same time, their ever-contracted wings are the author’s representative symbol.
This is the author’s realistic mapping of observations on life, nature, individuals, and groups. When a single bird is placed in space, it is a collision between the individual and the environmental symbol. And when multiple sculptures are combined into a group image, there will be mutual influence, pull and balance between individuals of different shapes. The appearance of the work is rich and varied, including the color of the glaze, the roughness of the soil, and the lines carved by the knife. These appearances are hidden in the artist’s slightly sad and pessimistic figurative expression, and they are projected out, as if they are telling the story of individual life and the natural environment. The uneasiness and powerlessness of strange changes.
However, the author did not respond negatively to the current situation, but responded with a gentle, childlike, and innocent attitude. This is his re-understanding, examination and expression of life. Viewers will follow the context of the work and experience what the artist describes. They will trigger strong emotions in us and prompt us to continue to think and continue.
