In Duan Yifan’s working method, the repetitive movements are still preserved, but the selection of specific images has been changed. History has gold on the black lacquer and uses the thick lacquer to paint on a surface, its often the most everyday objects were overlooked from its history. What kind of artistic expression with deeper characteristics can be clearly distinguished in this medium is the topic that the artist intends to try in his works.
Based in Scotland, Benassi’s work explores intuitive layering of materials through painting. Working primarily with acrylic paint, her surfaces incorporate printed collage, clay, oil bar and pasted papers to create structural forms in soft settings. Whilst abstract, Benassi displays subtle washes of colour, scratched surfaces and patchwork constructions, inspired by shifting shades and shadows of daylight and organic qualities in human-made landscapes.
ARCH GALLERY is presenting artist Guo Yujian’s solo exhibition “Dangerous Complicity”, which showcases some of Guo Yujian’s manuscripts and recent works. The exhibition consists of three chapters, namely Ⅰ. Fantasy, Ⅱ. Un Plateau (A High Flat), and Ⅲ. Theate. The three groups of chapters present Guo Yujian’s creative context in coordinates. “A dangerous complicity in which the artist, the picture and the audience are intertwined – in a sweet and beautiful dream, there is often danger, and we are all ambiguous dangerous accomplices.”
ARCH PROJECT is presenting the project exhibition “Eclipse” from August 6th to October 9th. ARCH PROJECT cooperated with artist Lin Shu this time. This exhibition uses the unobservable cosmic phenomenon as a metaphor, and displays the artist’s photographic works, paintings and early representative works in the past two years. It is presented through spatial structure, sight processing, image reading, etc., allowing viewers to experience “the creation of a foreign teacher, and the source of the heart” from a new perspective.

Chen Zifeng’s works have a temperament that makes people feel nervous. It is as if we were glancing at a giant hiding in the attic, facing away from us, doing things we could not know or understand. We will have a hint of curiosity and fear, but then turn around and leave.
If language is the murmur of everything that is spoken, Taiping’s works will constantly change its bass vibration in the ears of everyone who enters the exhibition hall.
When the painting is really close to us, the first thing that appears to our eyes is this Le cimetière marin[1] written by Valéry in 1922. The curators Hu Yihang and Zhang Tingzhi, together with artist Guo Yujian, divided the exhibition “Dangerous Complicity” in the gallery into three chapters with words and symbols: imagination, a plateau, and a theatre.
Since then, I have tried to let daydream-like imagination seep into the picture, and those earlier, more symbolic images have also been naturally diluted. Perhaps, it is precisely because of the temperament that seems to be infiltrated by the picture and some image contents that are contrary to reality that cause the association like a dream.
When looking at Guo Yujian’s works, what have been depicted is always in a state of flow, and the secret words that are related to each other become images that avoid us and approach us. The work that takes shape on the canvas in our sight is yet to come, in transition, about to embrace change, and it will not push us away until the feeling is fulfil.
“绘画没有办法不诚恳，这是一种无法伪装的媒介。我对绘画的诚恳和机械的、拾得的图像产生的化学反应感兴趣，尤其是当网络图像和铜板线腐蚀这种必须要经过转化才能成型的绘制方式相遇，就形成了有意思的关系。”
恍惚是我们长时间被某种思维或事物压制后常常落入的状态。在这个状态中，时间如流体般被我们任意搬运、搅动，又或是尽兴逐流。而林舒的作品常常通过对空间的加工让我们对影像中的实体逐渐疏远，以至于被送入一个被剥去嘈杂的心理状态，意识取代了被记忆包裹的身体，从而任意涌动。
1985年在北京中国美术馆举办的《劳申伯格艺术展》让中国人近距离地看到了“后现代艺术”的形态，这些展品让中国观众目瞪口呆：山羊的标本，汽车的轮胎，废弃的地毯组成了前所未见的图腾。在展览期间，保洁员差一点把作品误作是垃圾清理。
